I like to take photographs. A camera instantaneously records a scene and locks up the moment I want to save. I can look at it whenever I want and see “exactly” what was going on when I clicked the shutter button.
But I also like to sketch. I can’t draw an image all at once, and while I stand there scribbling away, it often moves and I have to bridge the change. There is a certain amount of “interpretation.”
Sort of like writing non-fiction and writing a novel.
Whenever I see something interesting that I don’t have a picture of, I use my camera. A camera like mine is easy to cart around. It’s a compact point and shoot. I’m told it will even take pictures under water, but I’ve never tried out that option. I always keep it in my purse – just in case.
I don’t take very good photos with my camera and I don’t draw very well, but I enjoy both – and that’s the whole point, isn’t it?
