I ran into Evalynne Engel at the Slow Food Market on Saturday. She told me she’d send some information about the Merida English Library’s latest fund raiser.
On Saturday March 9th, the Library hasa special event: The First Annual Merida English Library Artist Studio Tour. The tour will be self-guided, meaning that it will operate pretty much like the Brazos Abiertos House Tour.
When you buy a ticket for 200 pesos, you will be given a bracelet to wear on the day of the
tour. Snapping on the bracelet will allow you to enter each studio. In addition, you will be given a brochure with a map of the studio locations, numbered to coincide with various artists, and a one-sentence description of each artist’s current work.
MEL has 13 artists and 11 Studios participating. Tour participants can visit as many of the studios as they like, at their own pace. All artists will be on hand to discuss their work and talk with Tour participants. Although art will be for sale, the main benefit of the Studio Tour is to give people a chance to personally meet the artists.
Before the tour, participants are encouraged to go to the Merida English Library’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/meridaenglishlibrary or the library’s web site meridaenglishlibrary.com On both sites you’ll be able to see three images that each artist has submitted as representative of current work. People may really be drawn to the work of certain artists, and definitely want to visit those particular studios.
So, thank you Evalynne for the information… Tickets are on sale at MEL after Saturday February 9th. We’ll see you all on March 9th…

This is a great idea! I could not find any information or link on the MEL web site. Facebook has a post showing three pieces by one artist. It would be nice to easily find out all of the artists whose studios will be on the tour.
I think it is still a work in progress Allison, but they are working on it
