042: Lunch in Progreso

It’s hard to get better than this… A sunny Sunday in February, spent at the beach with visiting family. The plan was to go and have lunch at one of the beach bars. But something better came up.

Auntie Dot saw it first…

Jorge and Charlie went to investigate…

Something smelled like the sea…

Fresher fish is nowhere to be had…

The pelicans thought we should get lost…

Kane figured he’d listen to those angry birds…

No pics of the feast, but don’t we look as though we enjoyed it?

The cost of the freshly caught fish was just 170 pesos… a kilo of pasta, some French bread, greens, 1 onion, 4 tomatoes, 5 ripe Haas avocados, a jar of pesto,  10 lemons and iced beer cost another 300 pesos. I baked the delicious filets of fish with the onion and tomato, made the pasta and a salad.

That’s right. Under 500 pesos was enough to feed 7 hungry Canadians and 3 Mexicans who eat like Canadians!
